Review Authenticity

Reviews on our website can only be submitted by customers with a registered user account and only for products that they have actually purchased from us. The rating function is therefore only activated after a purchase has been made.

Optional filtering measures when submitting ratings:

  • Before the first review can be submitted, the customer must link the email address stored for the account with a mobile phone number and verify it using SMS identification.
  • In addition, only customers who have spent at least €25 on our platform in the past 12 months can submit a review.
  • Double ratings for one and the same product are technically not possible with us. A user account can only rate a purchased product once, even if it has been ordered several times.

We use the following mechanisms to check the ratings we receive:

Manual review only: We manually review and check every incoming rating. We check the content of the review for logical inconsistencies and other conspicuous features.
Customer-initiated review: Every visitor to our website has the option of reporting conspicuous reviews to us using the flag button, optionally stating reasons.
Manual random checks: According to the same standards, we also conduct random checks of individual comments that have not yet been pre-filtered elsewhere.
As soon as a rating contains anomalies due to our checking mechanisms, a detailed manual check of the respective individual cases follows.

All ratings filtered out [or reported] in this way are [both checked against our rating policy and] subjected to a general plausibility check by our team.

For the plausibility check, we consider the customer's entire rating behavior and also take a look at the content and metadata (e.g., IP address, device ID, date) of the rating. In doing so, we check whether the purchase and evaluation of the product are in temporal and spatial relation to each other and whether there are contradictions in the content. In this way, we investigate whether the customer has actually used the product.

  • Example: A customer gives a review of the product one day before it is delivered to him or claims to have been using it for a month, even though the purchase was made only a week ago.
  • Example: A DVD is rated with the sentence: "I don't like the color and workmanship of the shoe".
  • From the content of the ratings, it is clear that the rating cannot be the same as the rated product.

We then try to contact the authors of such conspicuous ratings in order to verify the statements in their ratings, if necessary. If the circumstances are clarified, the rating will be adjusted accordingly. If the circumstances for the rating remain too vague and unclear, the corresponding rating is filtered out. It is not displayed further or not published at all.

All ratings filtered out in this way are not included in the overall rating display
